Why You Need To Pay Tax?

Why You Need To Pay Tax?
નિક

The Government has released data on income tax payers in the country. Around 4.8 Crore citizens have filed income tax returns (ITR), in the fiscal year 2015. This number is quite less compared to around 82 crore citizens who vote. Why do you need to pay taxes? The Government has to look into and provide for National Security, build infrastructure for the Nation, provide for a good justice system and provide for social security for millions of citizens of the country. Crores of citizens soon to retire, would need a good social security system.

Around 4.8 Crore citizens have filed income tax returns in the fiscal year 2015, compared to around 82 crore citizens who voted in the Lok Sabha elections in 2014. Many of these citizens had zero tax liabilities. This is one tax payer for every 16 voters.

Only around 10 lakh citizens admit they earn more than INR 10 Lakhs a year and file returns for it. Most citizens evade paying their taxes. The Government is cracking down on black money hidden abroad, rather than go behind citizens who stay in the country and do not pay taxes.

Why the middle class cannot complain on taxes? The middle class is always complaining about lack of good infrastructure and no good social security scheme. How can the Government provide all these facilities without any money? Citizens have to pay taxes for the Government to collect money. If citizens do not pay direct taxes (income tax), the Government is forced to increase indirect tax. This is a tax on the poor.
