Do You Know: There's Another Vaishno Devi Temple in Pakistan?

The devotion and popularity of Vaishno Devi is not just restricted to India, but can be seen plenty in Pakistan as well. Apparently, there is a second Vaishno Devi in Pakistan, but it is known as ‘Mata Hinglaj Temple’, where people visit in lakhs.

Situated on a hilltop in Balochistan, this cave temple is one among the 51 Shaktipeeths in the world. The Goddess in this temple, Hinglaj Mata is said to be very powerful deity who bestows good to all her devotees.Here are some interesting facts about the temple.# It is said that when the body of Sati Mata was cut by Lord Vishnu’s ‘Sudarshan Chakra’, her head had fallen here.# The shrine is located in a small natural cave is around 120 kms from Karachi.

There is no man-made image of the goddess here. However, a small stone is worshipped as Hinglaj Mata.# Shiva is also worshipped at each ShaktiPeeths in the form of Bhairava, the male counterpart of the presiding goddess.# An annual four-day pilgrimage to the Hinglaj Mata Temple is organised every year in April.

Themajor ceremony in the pilgrimage occurs on the third day, when the priests of the shrine recite mantras to invoke the gods to accept the offeringsbrought by the pilgrims, and bless them.
