"If you truly love someone, your love sees past their humanness”

― Michael A. Singer

This is sometimes a tough one because no one presses our buttons quite like the closest people in our lives (especially lovers).
It becomes a problem when we think that the button presser needs to change and it's ok to keep our triggers, when in actuality on a spiritual level we attract button pressers so that they can mirror where we are not free and they actually gift us with opportunities to see our triggers and release our own baggage.

Relationships help us to unpack. This can become a powerful spiritual practice in self observation, self responsibility and intentional transformation.

We are misled in believing that the function of relationships is to make us happy, that’s our responsibility, the function of relationships on a spiritual level is to reveal the true nature of our relationship with ourselves so that we can release our illusions and access our own love...

But as long as we are protecting our wounds and our programming from the past, we will live in the realm of the mind and emotions, be in reaction and never free the peaceful, all embracing, lover in us.

To see past the humanness in others doesn't mean that we should condone unconscious behavior or stick around to be abused, but that we take responsibility for how we react, judge and punish others for disappointing us.

When we truly understand and value this, we will be able to accept others as they are and a true, loving and compassionate intimacy will evolve. ॐ
