Interesting Facts on Republic Day


The Constitution of India, came into force on 26th January 1950. This is known as the Republic Day.

The Constitution of India is the longest in the World. It has a total of 448 articles. The Constitution of India is written both in Hindi and in English.

Dr B.R. Ambedkar the architect of the Indian Constitution, took 2 years and 11 months to draft the Indian Constitution. 

French President Francois Hollande, will be the Chief Guest at the Republic Day Parade at Rajpath, New Delhi.

The Prime Minister places a wreath at Amar Jawan Jyoti, as a mark of respect to the thousands of soldiers of the country, who died fighting for the Nation on this day.

National awards such as Veer Chakra, Maha Veer Chakra, Param Veer Chakra, Bharat Ratna, Padma Bhushan and Kirti Chakra are awarded during the Republic Day ceremony. 

The 'Beating Retreat' is held on 29th January, which marks the end of all Republic day celebrations in the country.
