Three and Half Most Auspicious Days of Hindus

In the Hindu calendar there are 3 1/2 days that are especially considered as the most auspicious. They are:Akshya TritiyaGudi Pavda or UgadiVijaya Dashami or DasheraHalf day of Diwali – The night of DiwaliLet us know about the significance of each of these days.

Akshaya Triya:The considered as the most auspicious days in the whole calendar. It falls on the third day of waxing moon fortnight of the month of Vaishakh. Akshaya means ‘One that never diminishes’. There are about 4 to 5 reasons that make the day auspicious. One of the reasons is that it is the brightest day of the year. On this day the planets Sun and Moon are placed in such a way that they emit maximum light. The whole day is meant so auspicious that big ventures and things are taken up this day. It was the day of Akshya tritiya that the great epic Mahabharata was started in writing.

Gudi Pavda or Ugadi:This is the New Year day of the Hindu calendar. It is the day when the millennium began. Ugadi means ‘Ug’ – Yug ‘Aadi’ means ‘Beginning’. The day also marks the welcoming ceremony of Spring season. It is on the first day of the month of Chaitra. According to Hindu scriptures Lord Brahma began the creation on this day. He set thedays and nights in a cycle and years to count the time. This beginning of time is called Ugadi. Greatventures and ceremonies begin on this day.

Vijaya Dashami:Also known as Dashera, it is the most celebrated day by Hindus. It falls on the tenth day of the month of Ashwin. It the day to commemorate the victory of Lord Sri Rama after defeating the demon king Ravana. Vijaya means victory. This day gives victory in whatever tasks taken up.

Diwali Night:The night half of Diwali day is the most auspicious period as Sri Lakshmi devi keeps wandering on the earth and enters in the houses which are decorated with lights. Diwali is celebrated on the no moon day of Kartik month.Thus these 4 days are great for the Hindus.
